I've noticed that the price in France for the Kymco Myroad 700 has been announced as €8200 which is something like £6800. Sounds like a bargain! Do I remember people saying that it probably won't be coming to the UK?

It's been available everywhere else in the world for a couple of years now.

So why did Scooter-Station announce the price like it was a big deal then?

I have no idea perhaps because it's new to Europe?

Is this the same engine as the new BMW scoots? Certainly more attractive at £6.8k and it has electric suspension, tyre pressure monitor, keyless ignition, abs and decent storage.
It's a heavy ugly bugger though and I wonder what the service intervals and parts availability are like.
Almost certainly no relationship at all to the BMW scoot engine. Yes, I agree - heavy & ugly, but well equipped at a good price. I've still no idea about the engineering though - is it like a bike and Tmax/Big Burger with a rigidly mounted engine with separate swing arm or is it like an overgrown Vespa? From the photos, the swing arm looks very bike like, but does it have a final chain, or belt or shaft drive?

From the pics and reviews I've seen it looks like a conventional CVT with enclosed belt drive.

Different engine than in the BMW scooters, although both are assembled/made by Kymco. The BMW engine is newer.
Engine mounted in frame with Variomatic.
Small inspection (with oil change) every 5', standard inspection 10'km. Belt change and valve clearance inspection 20'km (Germany and Czech). For Switzerland and Austria replace 5/10/20'km with 6/12/24'km.
Available in Taiwan since 2009 and in Europe (continent) since 2011/2.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Kymco don't bother much with the larger scooters in the UK.
I was looking at the figures the other day and, despite the good reputation and respect that the Downtown seems to have, there are still only 35 in the country!
And actually, looking at them dispassionately, the DT is much prettier than the Myroad anyway, so if looks have anythign to do with it, at the price it probably won't sell. Would I buy one? Stupid though I am with my spondoolics, probably not. And in any case, the engines too big for my liking.
