Found that my Tmax had a flat rear tyre this morning - I was trying to move it to get the car out, and I could barely shift the TMax so I thought that something was wrong! On return later, I find that the tyre has a manky looking screw embedded in it. Had a nice AA man come out and put a temporary plug in (stick to 40mph on it?? Must be joking...).

Hopefully I can get a proper repair done - the hole isn't too near the sidewall. If not a new Bridgestone back (radial) tyre for mk2 & 3 Tmax is now £95 !!!! F..k! You can buy sportsbike tyres for less than that! And the Dunlop alternatives are more expensive!

I suppose I shouldn't grumble too much - its the first puncture I've had for a long while.

Tim trust me get some ultra seal in your tyres and put the valve back in and re inflate the tyre then on the centre stand turn the engine on & use the throttle to spin the back wheel keep doing this until the ultra seal has worked, it will work if the hole isn't on the side of the tyre

I bought a puncture repair kit off ebay some time ago when i discovered a nail, used it and the tyre was as good as before. Used the bike with the repaired tyre till the time came to change due to thread wearing thin, then got a new rear tyre only to get another nail within the first 1000 miles of it... Used the puncture kit again and still riding with the repaired (new) tyre.

Nothing happened above 40mph till the max speed...

Grumpy, trust me too...get some Ultraseal. It's never failed me or any of my mates and it's the very best one you can buy. It's widely used commercially in cars, bikes and trucks all over the world. It works and you would be very unlikely to be in this situation if it was in your tyres. It can work so I've been told if you put it in after a puncture but I've never tried that. It has to activate after being put in the tyre with a 5 mile ride, so for me I would probably go with a proper repair on this one and put Ultraseal in afterwards. I wouldn't want to risk wasting my Ultraseal as the first line of repair on this one, but that's just me.

PS. I know you've tried other products like this, but not actually Ultraseal, and you haven't had a good experience with that sort of thing. Ultraseal is the best one to go for.

PPS. Also, use better quality wind!!

I've always used it, I found a 1 inch screw in my dragster tyre years ago when I had a new tyre fitted, I never knew how long it had been in there but the tyre lost no pressure.

I put one in a Z1300 back tyre and rode it at speeds up to 130mph, had one in a VFR750 and rode it at speeds up to 150mph.
A plug faiing is no different to riding on a new tyre and getting a puncture.
I've never had a plug fail but I have had a puncture...
