Short video of the descent;
In my opinion it's a better view than the other direction.

Hi Keith, You can get into Winnatts from Castleton, it's a left turn after you leave the village...that takes you in the uphill direction.
If you want to go down rather tham up (although there's no law against doing both) you can approach from Sparrowpit....the road to the left of the pub on that hairpin bend...but once you got onto that side road keep going straight on, don't take the immediate left turn.
You have a run of 2 miles or more then and eventually will see a turn off to the right which is situated on a sharp left hand bend in the road you are already on. Take the exit to the right and if you see the cattle grid within a few hundred yards you're in the right place.
If you decide to go up the pass and don't want to try to turn round to go back down again (it's not a very safe road to do that on)....if you left at the top you'll get to Sparrowpit within a few miles and it's a pretty good road.

Did u know that a lot of the rocky holes on the sides of the road are actually where they dug out stone to build peveril castle and surrounding buildings in Castleton. It says so in the visitors centre
