scooter modification and advice for the ageing

Post by jaxon4 »

hiya.im jaxon4,i ride a yamaha majesty 400 2005.im having serious neck and shoulder pain due to bulging neck discs, but desperately need to keep riding as i dont drive.im 58 and i need some advice on anything that will help me keep going.im thinking of changing bikes to a much smoother(less vibration) peugeot satelis 250 or 500.i think this will help, but if not its another load of money wasted.does anyone know of any where in the sheffield area that does scooter mods(handlebars etc)?as i think lowering my bars would help my shoulders and neck.any useful advice may help me to keep going.thanks j4

hello, welcome, if you need a smother ride why not look to a twin with the engine in the frame and not on the swinging arm.
yamaha tmax 500 has a ballance piston and there must be something on the 650 burgman because they are quite smooth also
hope you find what you need, have a spin on mine if you need too - South Lincolnshire

Welcome to the forum.

I have just changed from a tmax 500 to a burgman 400. I must admit there is more vibration on the 400 as its a single cylinder instead of the tmax twin cylinder.

Don't know if they are still available but there was a thing called a bar snake a solid rubber tube that is pulled through through the bars and dampen vibes.

Hello jaxon4 and welcome to the site.
I watched a program on TV a week or two ago about pain management and there was a young lady who had bulging disks (lower back) and was trained to manage it through quite vigorous exercise. What does your Doctor say?

walking and salsa dancing is good for bad backs, and you have to get the core muscles working, icon_shag_2.gif icon_shag.gif
