I've asked this before in here but does anyone else have problems with leaky visor seals?

I've had three different brands of helmet in the last couple of years, Caberg, Takachi and Viper, all flip front (I wear glasses) and they've all leaked along the top edge.

Actually are most full face helmets designed for motorbike riders who lean forward making the angle wrong for us scooterists anyway?

I'm wondering if it's connected in some way with fitting pinlock inserts or maybe I have the wrong shaped head ?

Cheap helmets......I never have that problem with Arais! On the other hand, the seal above the Schuberth Concept visor failed (a common problem), and they kindly sent me a new seal to stick on. I don't think its a particular issue for flip-up helmets. I never had the same issue with the Schuberth C2

Not just cheap helmets, but could also be as its NOS... and more pronounced on the flip type...
My Lazer Panema leaks a little at the top, they use a foam type seal, rather than a rubber seal, so may of got a little compressed, also the pinlock doesn't fit fully to the visor - and i had water get down the top and started to fill the void between pinlock insert and the visor - i rotated the pins slightly - its better, but not perfect...

Unfortunatly there is no adjustment to move the visor holding plates on the crash helmet - so the visor sits closer to the crash helmet when closed - you may be able to do so on your lid...

Retro-fitting a pinlock insert on some visors can cause them to catch on the top of visor aperture / seal - especially if they are the wide vison ones - or are not in exactly the right place...

My Caberg Konda has a large rubber gully at the top, and you have to remember to 'nod' your head to the side after you flip the front up to stop it running down ya collar...

As for Arai, yep my Quantum and Tour X both feel like such quality when i put em on - but a Flip is needed for the commute / security at the gate at work etc... and to stop the faff as i also wear glasses.

Went out with the Tour X on and Black visor and everything look so optically clear 'Glasses/Visor' with the Panema 'Glasses/Flip Down Sun Shield/Pin Lock/Visor' - i do wish Arai made a flip front - may have to go for the Shoei but £400 - £500 is a lot for a commuting lid that will get a battering - thats 4x Caberg Kondas...

Rob Hunter do stick on seal strips - mut that could just make things worse - back to the dealer and see if they can adjust / re-align the visor to the aperture

I have an Arai, Shoei and a Shark helmets and neither of them have leaked.

at a show a couple of years ago there was a shoei tent giving shoei owners a free service, and one thing they did on mine was to apply a silicone type of compound on to the rubber visor seal on the helmet, which the shoei man said helps keep the seal waterproof. Dont know exactly what is was though.

Kind of like the little bottle of something that comes with every Arai - though I think thats supposed to be to lubricate the visor mechanism.

Mine is exactly the same! Must be a right manufacturing cockup. I have bits of masking tape to tape the insert to the visor.

I once had a Takachi one that leaked. I cured it by sticking a strip of of draft excluder foam (that you stick to door frames) to the top edge of the helmet.

That's cause you're wearing them in the van!!

I was thinking of going for a Konda next. Would you recommend them?
