Promised the memsahib a five star luxury weekend away 'cos we need a break.
Looked at that there London, but the Olympics have shoved our usual hotel prices up four fold, so ended up with a sea front hotel in Blackpool at £35 a night, (nothing but the best for her ladyship).
Thought we grab a show or two and few beers, but does anyone up there have any suggestions for something that's worth a visit while we're at it?

Hrmm having read the full post now my original thought on the first sentance was to suggest some where to stay in the peak district that my wife and I found totally awesome, and I got a free back massage!

But beyond that... places to go? I have no idea.

You're only 60 miles from Windermere and the rest of the lake disrict if you like a ride.

Your're going to Blackpool man... there's plenty to do there without going into Manchester.

When I said ride I assumed you were on motorbike/scooter, nothing wrong with going to the lake district in the car.

Blackpool!!, from my own observations of last time I went, and this is only my opinion, Its a dump, I cant believe how the place had gone down hill over the last few years.
Now Manchester, "the traff centre", Salford quays, ( the lowery, media city, the war museum, ), theres the "theatre of dreams" (MUFC), oh and that scruffy place where city play, holts bitter, and all thats without mentioning the city centre..

Blooming heck. It was a dump last time I went there, and that must be twenty years ago. GAwd knows what it's like now if it's worse!

Don't bother with the 'Pleasure Beach'. There's definitely no pleasure and there is no sand. I was there recently for a stag do. Christ, what a shithole. I didn't stay the Sunday; went back to the wife.
