Traffic light grand prix...

I was surprised to be smoked by an 04 Piaggio B500 today. I was on the TMAX beside him, the lights went red green and off he went; I was a length behind him. Second light we were neck and neck up to about 30 mph, when I ducked out. Is the B500 supposed to be that quick?

with just a roller change for lighter ones you can get a lot of bikes to accelerate very quickly, yellow tmaxs are quicker though

I suppose your bike could be running slower than it should, if the drop has been gradual, you may just not have noticed it until now. Find another rider with a tmax to play with

Depending on the TMax you have, the B500 could have the same power, and be lighter. I seem to recall tests where the X9 would outdrag the original TMax, to some speeds at least. The Tmax variator isn't the most racy, which is why upgrades are popular.

It's a Mk3 with 5000 miles on the clock and 18g Dr Pulleys in the variator. Probably isn't run in properly yet!

My Nexus feels quicker to 60 than the TMax does, Nexus has the same engine as the B500.

On my quest for a Maxi Scoot I remember reading that the general reputation of the (<2008) Tmax was that most maxi-scoots could out accelerate it up to 30mph - it was only after 30 that it really took off...
"I know power is not everything but, come on. The T-Max is slower than all of its competitors in a straight line. In fact most mid size scooters like the Vespa GTS and Honda SH 300 will dust it to 50kph (31MPH) and give it a good run for its money to 100kph."

But that was way, way back in 2008 - so I'm sure Yamaha have sorted that out now...
