Northern Riders Go to Norfolk 8th September

Post by Gerard C »

On Saturday the 8th of September three of us are riding down to Norfolk to meet up with Peter who until recently was a moderator in charge of Burgman Riders UK. We will be arriving on Saturday PM and staying in Downham Market.

On Sunday the 9th we are going to the Charity Airday at Seething Airfield

We will be staying overnight on the Sunday in Clare, Suffolk.

Other plans are to visit Finchinfield, Saffron Waldon and then Duxford on the Monday.

If anyone's got some time and feels like linking up over the weekend with three Northerners then let us know and we will try to get together.

Rule 3, Sub-Section 9, Paragraph 18a says 'No Lincolnshire Yellow Bellies/Yellowbellies even those of sound body and wind are permitted to join '.
Thanks for clearing that up Meldrew!
I obviously forgot to tell him I was a Yorkie living in exile.

This is all very mysterious. Can some one fill me in on the history of the situation? Obviously there seems to be a back story here that I am completely unaware of. Before my time as they say.

All I do know is that I know of two Maxi Scooter sites, one Burgman Riders USA with an off shoot in Burgman Riders UK.Those forums being aimed at Burgman riders. And then, of course, theres the Maxi Muppets site which is more open to all makes and models.

One site, seems to me, to be more technical in nature with lots of specific advice as regards the Burgman, Maxi Muppets seems to be, lets say, more "personality" driven. Neither site seems to be overwhelmed with actual activities so what could possibly have happened to create such an apparent bad feelings - and personal with it? Are there huge sums of cash involved somewhere? Is it a question of a turf War? Were huge rallies organised and we humble Scooterists forced to take sides in a death match?

Seriously will someone tell me what happened? Do I have to withdraw from one site or the other? Is it considered wrong to be a member of both? I and possibly others need to know.

I think basically he fancied hiself as moderator of the uk side of burgman riders US the row started when Phil brought the Burgman riders .co.uk domain name the yanks didnt like that at all so he sold it to them and a burgman section was set up on here .I dont think there is bad feeling as such it seemed to me a few of UK members were ex raf and talked like spitfire pilots

Hi Pikey

So a bit of a fall out over a domain name then? That's understandable, I know from commercial experience that if a domain name is taken how frustrating it can be. In business it screws up your marketing something shocking.

I do know Henry C has just stepped down from the role of Moderator of the forum. To be honest I don't go on that site a lot because no one seems to be interested in doing anything. My friend Steve has already met Henry C - AKA Peter. He says he is a great Guy. I will make my own impression as I am sure others do when they meet me. In my view its a good ride out nothing more and nothing less.

Thanks for taking the time to explain though. It was before my time.

Im sure hes OK basically he wanted burgman owners to join the US site and others wanted a burgman section on here .It was the US guy who got upset said we had pinched his name when basically if its got .co.uk on the end everyone knows its UK based it was all about egos and Henry C sided with the US guy thought he was great although he didnt actually own a burgman and had sold it .I didnt think much of them Burgman USA was better for technical stuff .

For what reason? all this stuff ceased to be of any interest ages ago and doesn't need dragging up again. The Muppets and Burgman Riders GB are just two forums that may appeal to anyone with a scooter a computer and an interest. They are not maxi scooter clubs as I always get the impression you think they are.
Whoa Boy, your the one who took the thread away from a simple Ride out into the realms of plots and schemes. Don't go saying things like its in the past when you are the one who seems obsessed with quite frankly mixing it up for what ever reason floats your own boat. Once again the title of the post says "Northern Riders go to Norfolk". As you are a lone Wolf, or perhaps a "Billy No Mates" you will not be interested, so what are you doing wasting everybody's time making comments that take the post off topic. You constantly do this, and I always ask the same question "why say anything if its not for you"?

Now it might be me but when a Forum has the name of Burgman Riders UK and another glories in the name of Maxi Muppets, could someone be forgiven the assumption that they are in fact related to the joy of riding Maxi Scooters? I found both sites by Googling Maxi Scooter Forums.
I don't think either forum is a Maxi Scooter Club. They are simply forums for the exchange of views and information, which is why I enjoy the Muppets so much. However to retain interest the forums must also be active or they will atrophy and die - as some have already lamented the "good old days" in previous posts, it might be taken as a warning sign.

My suggestion is that, just for a laugh, you organise something yourself and contribute on a positive level. I promise if you do I will do my best to support your effort. Become a positive rather than a negative player. Its a life choice.
