Summer's over. Yaaay!

(Annual thread - counterpoint to the usual moaning Spring thread.)

So summer now seems to be over and ownership of the roads returns to the All Weather Riders.

This morning there were noticeably far fewer knobs riding around - whether sports, paris-dakar, vespa suits, t-shirt and flip-flops, or whatever type most get your goat. :x Just the obviously experienced, highly skilled, sensible types wanting to make good honest progress through the traffic on their way to work. 8-)

So let's hope the bad weather continues... :D

What bloody summer, plus im a dry weather rider, after years of riding thru all weather to get to work,
im no longer going to fight greasy roads and get wet thru in the bargain

+1

Much as i hate the rainy weather, i still prefer it to the summer junkies making my daily commute hell with their inexperience and immortal attitudes.

OK - there are fewer knob heads around, but hells bells, its scary out there!!!!! Roads are underwater, the winds are making rapid progress on the Tmax a bit problematic! I just got stuck behind a truck because the turbulence was so great I didn't dare overtake it!

easy :P just lean towards the wind until you're parallel to the truck, then hold tight for the turbulence to come back as soon as you get past it.

On a more serious note, yes it's horribly scary to ride in this weather, but from my own experience, the risk factor is the same as i tend to boot it when the weather is nice, therefore increasing the risk, whereas on worse weather, i ride slower, but the weather increases the risk to the same level again. So all in all it's the same for me.

Only if you were to ride the same manner when the weather was nice it would be advantageous. If you're like me, it's all the same :D

Meldrew, I thought you were supposed to be mal-adjusted, that post reply seems to make a lot of sense

I ride all year round, but avoid days like yesterday and will not venture out on wet salty roads. No bike sold is built to resist our winters and Im buggered if Im going to let salt kill my rides.

I do like a nice day, so I guess Im mainly a fair weather rider. Like Meldrew, I prefer the car in rough weather!

Just too turbulent...Cross-head wind, sheets of spray, turbulent wakes off truck....I was turning off in a mile or so, so I decided that discretion was the better part of valour!

I ride all year round except on ice and snow

Summer wasnt that bad here and we might get still some warm and mainly sunny days ( some little showers wouldnt bother me and keep me away from riding )
