Proof of power output

I have just had a strange request from my insurance company that has got me a bit knarked.
Took out insurance for my mew (to me) 2008 Majesty 400 in at the end of August after passing my bike test as it fits the Govt restriction of 25kw - or does it?
Today the insurance company have sent me a letter asking for proof of a restriction kit being fitted such as the certificate or a rolling road report.
I rang them (40 minutes on hold) and quoted the govt website (restricted to 25kW) and the current Yamaha Majesty specs (25kW) but was told they would get back to me as their book says 34bhp which is more than govt restriction of 33bhp.
Has anyone else had anything like this or is it as stupid as I currently feel it is?
By the way does anyone know where to get 'official' specs for 2008 Majesty - the figures I quoted him are for the 2012 model (and 2011 and 2010)

Yes, its utterly stupid, but you'll have to play the game.
First off, the Yam won't actually be 34bhp, its just that someone rounded up when converting from Kw to bhp. I guess you'll need to find something that states the engine power in KW, which should be less than 25 (or whatever). I guess you have to ask Yamaha for an official specification. YOu can ask your dealer, but they may or may not be any use.
Its all silly anyway, as you can only measure power at the wheel, which will come out as way less than 34bhp! That its the other solution if things get daft- take the scoot to a dyno, and they'll give you print out saying the Maj puts out 18kw or something, and send that off to the insurance company!

According to the current Yamaha website, it produces 25.0KW.

the majesty did produce 34bhp
when i passed my test on a 125cc i couldnt ride one and then redid the test on a bigger bike as i had already bought one
hughie at skellerns motorcycle yamaha dealer in worcester (mod on here) confirmed this

Go to another insurer if I were you. Most of them don't seem to have any problem with insuring the Maj. 25kw is 33.5hp (just over actually). Be wary of sites claiming to offer engine spec power outputs etc. Many like the one posted above by Meldrew is a good site, but incorrect on many of it's output figures for the euro market. Have you not got the owners manual which will normally state the power output figure?

Update:
when I contacted them again and highlighted that Yamaha quote 25kW and that the govt website quotes 25kW (not hp) they 'contacted the underwriters' and have agreed that 'no restriction is needed'
Success (albeit a little one) and so many thanks to all who offered advice or opinions
