Yet another Londoner

Hi all

I'm an old fart, have been riding big bikes for most of my life including Harley, Guzzi, Honda, Triumph, Ducati etc. In the last few years though I've taken to scooters, initially as a second bike but now I'm just on a scooter as the big bikes got too heavy for me and I've come to like the convenience of scooters, particularly the fact that you don't need to wear most of the kit that you do on a motorcycle.

I started with a Honda Innova 125 a few years ago, the pizza jockey bike, and after a couple of years traded it for a Honda PS 125. Sold that and after a gap got myself a Yamaha Cygnus X. All three of these machines were really good in my view for the purposes for which they were designed, that is, principally town riding.

I've just traded the Yamaha for the new model Piaggio Beverly 350 Sport Touring because I wanted something which would easily keep up with the traffic on fast roads and motorways which the Cygnus could not. I've had it only a few weeks but the Beverly seems to be a grand machine in just about every respect.

I considered the Honda SH 300i and the Vespa 300 as alternatives, both of which I test rode, but the Beverly beats them easily in my view in many ways. I'll do a review in the appropriate section in the forum.

From what I've read, the Bev 350 is a cracking machine so I think you've made a good choice.

Welcome, I've test ridden the B350 and really liked it, may be a potential buyer next year.

There's unsurprisingly a few of us from in and around London, we meet up at various times at High Beach Tea Hut (Epping Forest), Newlands Corner (Nr Guildford) and Ace Cafe (Park Royal), though the frequency dips in the colder months.

There's also an irregular Curry get-together on a Thurs night on the Holloway Road, which was monthly for a while but is now less regular, which reminds me we really need a pre-Xmas Curry night!
