Maybe they aren't lying?
So pull out of the house, getting to the end of my street, and a pedestrian just walks out on me. To be fair while i was slowing (for the t-junction), i hadn't quite seen him between lots of parked vans, so when we'd spotted each other i need a bit more brake if i was going to stop and not hit him.
I was almost dead stopped when the front wheel slipped and went over. There was literally almost no forward motion, and i almost kept it up, but sort of toppled gently to the side.... No scratches to the body, but it bent the right brake lever, tiny scratch on the mirror
<sigh> Maybe he should of been a bit more patient, maybe there was some diesel from workmen turning their trucks about (roads works a street over, and they've been turning around in our street), and maybe i should of been a bit more attentive - like they say you feel safe near home, but i perk up my paranoia once i'm off down the road a bit more.
Anyways, be careful out there chap pies - slippery today apparently.

It's true. My last 'off' in Feb '12 (almost stationary, black ice, scoot just slid out from under me...) was at the turn-in to my back alley, well within 200 yards [old money!] of my back gate.

I can emathise with this. Both of my scooter accidents ( 25 years apart ) happened within sight of my parents house.
The first one happened when I was slowing down as I passed a chip shop for a junction at the end of the street.
A woman driving a VW beetle was pulling out from a layby, stopped when She spotted Me, and then for God only knows what reason ? pulled out into my path as I was level with her.
I was only doing about 20mph on my restricted moped but went sailing over the bonnet of her car and ended up in a crumpled heap on the road with leg and ankle injuries
My scoot was written off but I actually did ok out of the deal and ended up with a brand new scooter to replace my 6 year old one and a new helmet, gloves etc.
I then had 25 accident free years until 18 months ago when again 2 streets away from my Mum and Dads house a bloody big alsatian ran out into my path from an alleyway & as I avoided it I hit a massive pot hole which had appeared overnight

causing me to lose control of my brand new LML and go for another trip in an ambulance
This time I was held at fault for the accident as I couldnt trace the dogs owner and it was quite an expensive job to repair the scoot and replace my helmet etc.
