New 650 Build Quality.

On another section of the forum a couple of members who have actually seen the "New" 650 were not in the slightest impressed by the "Build Quality". As I have provisionally placed an order for a new 650 this thread concerns me greatly. As prior commitments preclude me from attending the NEC I would appreciate if anyone on this forum does attend if they would have a really good look at the 650 with particular regard to the quality aspect and subsequently let me have their views.

Thanks.

Geoff.

Everyone has their own opinion of "Build quality"
At last years show, I thought the BMW's looked ok but others slagged them off.
Surely Suzuki quality won't have taken a drastic nosedive?

Looking at the suzuki website, I can test ride a burgman 650 at Peterborough or Crewe.
Probably won't be the new model but stick your post code in and pop along.

Give it a good check, see if you're happy and then if yours isn't up to that standard you've got grounds for a major complaint

I have ridden the current 650 on several occasions and been very close to buying one but did not for the following reasons. The 400 was better suited to my needs as I was commuting, doing a high mileage and riding solo for the vast majority of the time so the fuel consumption and weight were important. Also certain aspects of the style did nothing for me namely the "stubby" front end, the "bulbous" rear and the instrument cluster. My useage will now be pleasure only with my mileage greatly reduced, two up will feature a great deal more, the style issues have been addressed and last but not least, provided that the 650 comes in "In line" price wise with the current model then compared to the increased price 400 it now tips the balance (for me) in favor of the 650.

I had a go on the current 650 a couple of months ago and must say I was impressed with it. It went like stink, handled well, had good protection aided by the standard comforts not found on other scoots in this price bracket and I'm sure if it was ridden sensibly it would be ok on fuel. I thought the build quality looked alright too. I would imagine the new 650 would be at least as good as the current one and would be intersted in trying one out. On the other hand I would think there should be some bargains to be had of the current model too.

I wouldn't take that other thread that I started too seriously. I have never been a Burgman fan, so am somewhat biased. I suspect that the build quality is just fine, although the first impressions of the new dash's fit and finish weren't that great. I could say the same about my BMW; initial impressions aren't that good, but it does have an intangible feeling of being well put together.

My 2012 Burger 650 was very well put together and the new owner thinks the same. I have owned different Suzuki's over the years and never had a problem with them.

I would be surprised if the build quality was anything less than excellent. It's Japanese!

I'm going to the NEC, and will be spending some time looking over the new six fiddy. I may interested as the MyRoad 700i isn't now coming into the country. But as the guys are saying, I'm sure the quality, fit and finish will be fine. Not seen a modern Suzi that isn't good in that department. My 2012 400z is absolutely fine, can't faulti it. There is only one warped nut on it, ME ME ME ME!!!

Data. Just read a trade mag in which one of the Suzuki top brass states the price of the "New" 650 as £8,300. There should be very little change from the last model as it looks as though the changes are minimal and therefore very little in the way of development costs to claw back. Can I just ask what is driving you to look at the bigger capacity. With me it is that my bike will now be purely for leisure with a lot more "Two Up" touring.
