12000 mile service cost

Post by Deleted User 407 »

Okay, anyone had the 12000 mile service done at a dealers? I am looking for ballpark figures.I also need two new tyres so the wallet might take a battering!

I was considering part exchanging before i got the work done.I might be able to part ex it for a honda nc700x or was looking at the Aprilia srv if i can find a low mileage going cheap.

New tyres at a dealers will cost 50% more than if you bought them on-line and had them fitted at any tyre fitters. Even allowing for delivery (sometimes free) and fitting and balance costs it's far cheaper as the tyres will be half the price to start with. £20 will cover fitting and balancing and £8 for a bottle of Goop.
Save your money and trade it in, it won't make any difference to the price they offer.

I think my 12000 was around a ton, but to be honest, it ain't really 12000 because it's a 6 monthly interval so it was only about 2750 after 2 years anyway.

I had a 12000 service done afew years ago,, just after I got my first tmax.
It was very expensive as the v belt was changed, the steering bearings greased, all the filters and oil changed, plus I had a new tyre and an MOT.
I think it came to near £400 ??
When main dealers charge £50 per hour for their labour , the price will be dear.
And I don't think you save anything by stripping the plastics off yourself as there is a set amount of time that Yamaha specify for the job.
You'll be charged that time however long the job takes.

I am now a bit wiser so I do the basic stuff myself. Then get Clive to do the rest!
