One day using trains and my patience already ran out

Post by halfabusa »

Due to heavy snow in the weekend, i left my bike at work on friday and came home by train, and set off yesterday early to ensure i was at work on time... I didn't think leaving home @ 6:45 to reach work wasnt long enough! The hemmorroid transport vehicle called the train was ridiculously slow and with many cancellations as well... The usual journey to london bridge which takes 26 mins on a normal day took just short of 2 hours because they decided to ground the train for an hour one station before london bridge.

The reason? Too much traffic! Ffs...

Got back home fine luckily, but today no amount of snow or ice will keep me from going back on my bike... I went downstairs at lunch time to check the burgie out and realised how much i missed it

It was last friday morning when i rode it last time, so its been a hell of a lot of days so i can miss it, right?

Looking forward to this evening. Even the horrible traffic of london looks like heaven compared with the trains... Bloody slavery that is!

I missed yesterday and worked from home. Today I was a bit nervous but once I got to the end of my ungritted road (about 100yds/metres) it was fine. Hopefully no black ice or anything tonight. Fingers crossed.

ps. made sure that I had a spare battery for the phone, puncture repair stuff and all the usual stuff us maxi riders can carry in our voluminous* boots.

p.p.s * = today is unofficially BIG WORD day.

Train on friday and train on Monday for me, then I gave up and risked the TMax today and found it quite easy as the roads here were clear... just the usual crap trying to get out of the garage block as it was solid ice up to the main road.

I used to have staff rail travel privileges as part of my remuneration package and almost never used it.
Trains just don't go where you want them to.
As for the deep south, the train system is antiquated, rammed to capacity and it takes very little indeed to bring everything to a grinding halt.
In the last couple of weeks I have discovered that the Stagecoach X7 Coast Rider service is a very good option when the weather is poor.

Lucky you posted a picture otherwise I might have thought that Stagecoach were putting people onto midsize Piaggios....

Back on the scoot today thank goodness. Not that much of a hassle in the car on my commute (but there again, I go at unusual times), but so much easier to get round the idiots!
