Can 47bhp machines still be fun to ride?

Post by anonstarter »

MCN are at it again...
This week's MCN, out January 30 wrote: Can A2 Bikes Be Fun?
This month saw the introduction of the new A2 licence, restricted to 47bhp. For new riders aged 19-21, an A2 licence is the best they can get under the new rules. We look at some of the top contenders in the A2 category to see if these 47bhp limited machines can still be fun to ride.
I don't need at least 47bhp to have fun!

Any machine is fun to ride, it depends how you ride it.

I do fall about laughing at some of the 'headlines' in MCM. Best comic on the stands. I only buy it very occassionally for fun these days as I've now grown up (wife doesn't agree!). Not saying anyone who buys it isn't grown up, but it's just not to my taste particularly these days.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Been riding for 55 years & owned too many bikes to list here...

MCN has become like every other tabloid rag; full of bollocks, with no relevance to the real world.

There is no way 47hp can be fun ......... If you've only got a 1hp brain

Anyway, I didn't buy fun, I bought transport

I imagine a Gilera Runner with 47hp might be more than most MCN readers (and writers!) could handle...

So yes, I would 47hp would be fun (to watch).

I hope that I don't get banned from the forum for saying this but my little Chinese 150 was a hoot and a half to flick around, light as air and with Dr. Pulleys installed off the line in a flash.

I reckon anything on two wheels can be fun, unless you are pedaling! Back in 1987 I got my first brand new car, a Fiat Uno 45. The 45 in the name indicated the horsepower of the engine. It tonked around for ten years and 130,000 miles until it finally gave in to tin worm. 47 bhp on a scooter is plenty, the secret is not to give a shit what anyone else thinks.
