Foecast, snow on Sunday and Monday. A good long ride needed Today. Not been to Hawes yet this year, i bet nobody there today. Left Bolton over the tops to Haslingden on to Fence and Barrowford, Blacko to Gisburn past Skipton to Grassington have a look at Pately Bridge, great roads and no bikes or Scooters at all. Back to Grassington through Kettlewell to Aysgarth and on to Hawes and, what a surprise not one single bike here. Come back past Ribbleshead via duct to Ingleton and towards Settle it starts to rain. Down some country lanes and out at A59. back down the short stretch of Motorway to Haslingden and over the tops to home 178 miles of fantastic riding with the roads almost to myself, I think i saw two motorcycles all the time i was out. This is definately my favourite time of the year.

Yeah.. well, the weather was somewhat better than forecast else I'd have gone further. It was actually not bitterly cold here, without a blasting northerly wind, and the roads were actually dry in places! I'd forgotten what it was like to lean a bike in corners!

How far did you get Mr Grumpy? Hawes says it's the highest villiage in Yorkshire so i think it was as cold there as anywhere else, there is still snow on the roads although at the sides, as the actual roads were clear.

Hardly anywhere...just a few miles to Great Ayton. Haven't been to the Dales for eons! Doesn't look like there is a huge amount on the N York Moors.
Hawes highest village in Yorks??? Hmmm I'll have to think about that one. Most Dales villages are in the valleys for obvious reasons, so it doesn't strike me as a huge claim - unlike Alston where it is draped up the side of a hill, and the weather gets seriously bad up there!!!

I took a couple of pics whilst i was there, one of them was of a sign saying how high Hawes was above sea level and claiming to be one of the highest towns. I tried to put the pics on but somehow i've lost the pics( it's a new camera) and i think i deleted them by mistake.

We've had a couple of showers.
The weather's a fickle thing down here. There can be sun in St. Ives and pouring rain in Falmouth - just 20 miles away!
