Hi everyone

Anyone that was on the run on Sunday in Wales to Barmouth will know that I'm on the look out for a maxiscoot. Would appreciate any thoughts on this scoot that is at a local dealer by me on the link above.

Thanks

I have more info on the scoot.

Year registered Jan 08 in Cirencester, had 2 owners, had sevices at 800, 4000, 8,000 & 10,000 miles. It is in the workshop at the moment waiting to be checked over before going on floor in the showroom.

Second owner bought it in March 09 and had it attached to his motorhome for when he went abroad. Been told it is in mint condition, hoping to go down and have a look this weekend.

So do you think it is at a decent price?

Appreciate any feedback

Thanks

Find out if it is a K8, K7 or K6 model as the date of registration actually confirms nothing.

I'm no great expert on the differences, but I think the major upgrade was K8 and it maybe better to make sure you get one of those if funds permit.

I'm not up to date on prices, Horobags or Chippy would have a better idea than me.

It is the updated model (good thing IMO - better engine and clutch, more power, doesn't lose oil at speed like the older ones did) and the mileage sounds good for the age - fits with the "occasional use" story.
Its got a givi screen so somebody has had money available to spend on it.

A couple of service intervals to consider or haggle for as part of the deal:

11,000 renew engine air filter (part = £26 I think)
14,500 valve cearances
14,500 renew drive belt
Check reduction gear oil was done at/near 7,500...........due again 14500

They are pretty sturdy beasts, the paint scratches easily but flexes well so I'd expect a couple of scratches but no cracks
The exhaust sometimes has a tin can rattle over bumps. Not always due to rot, usually its just the exhaust end plate is loose behind the dummy end which is dead easy to fix (watch out for the 3 dummy screws)

Have a good check round the web first (eg Biketrader, MCN). We've seen loads of immaculate looking Burger 400s (09 models if I remember correctly) advertised in recent months for £3k, so this one doesn't strike me as anything special. I've nothing against it - it may be great and well looked after, but don't rush in.

Couldn't wait till the weekend so I've been down to have a look at it. Condition is very good, only scatches I could find was on the head light glass on the near side. Has oxford heated grips on it so wouldn't have pay for those to be installed.

I've requested a test ride for when it is ready to go in the show room, by doing that A&D have stated that it is locked down so I get first refusal.

Point noted Mr.Grumpy

A+D have a good reputation in the bike trade, and i think lynn is a friend of the owner. Have you had a part/ex price for your 125 bazil?? In any bike deal the price of the new bike isnt so important if they offer you peanuts for your part/ex. The important figure is how much its going to cost you to change. Like has been already said , pick another couple of used burgmans off bike trader, MCN, ect, phone the dealer and get an aprox price off them over the phone , most dealers will do this, and this will help you decide weather A+D are doing you a good deal, or not. If your not paet/exing your 125, ask for a discount, id go for 10 percent.
