At that sort of purchase price, you should be test riding them both. They'll be completely different animals I'll bet. I would think that the C650 would be more sports oriented.

I can only comment for the Burgman 650 L1 2011 model. This is a great maxi-scooter that is relaxing and smooth, turns into corners great and with Suzuki's long 650 maxi-scooter heritage since 2002 I believe they have 'nearly' ironed out any design flaws that may have happened. You get all the 'toys' included on the executive but are extras on the BMW (Highline) taking it to £10,545, and Suzuki's new 2013 price is £8799 (£1746 difference). Personally I find not much has actually changed on the new Suzuki model to justify an upgrade yet, so I would look out for huge reductions of the 2012 model (at £8175) soon at around £7k.
The only real criticism of the <2012 Burgman is the wide rear seat for small pillions, but you get a larger storage area. The 2013 model has addressed this by slimming down the rear but by doing this losing 6 litres of storage space. The 12v power socket now seems to be in a more sensible position. When it arrives the 2013 model will eventually be at the latest Suzuki demo road show. See this thread

I don't think any civilians have laid hands on the new Burgman yet.
(I'm waiting to see if the 400cc Suzi and BMW reach these shores)
Can I ask an extra question of any GT owners that reply - what do you think of the adjustable vent strakes under the screen? It might not have been warm enough yet but I've a particular interest in them.

Hmmm interesting choice - I've owned an old model Burger and ridden the C600, so not much direct help!
I seem to recall reading a review on Scooter Station that concluded that the C650 utterly blew the (old) Burger out of the water as a touring scooter, so the question is how much the 2013 Burger is better than 2012 model. Since the fundamentals of the design don't seem to have changed very much at all for 2013, I'm very sceptical that the new Burger will be significantly better than the old one. And they are charging a grand extra for it...
I know some people love their Burgers, but it turned out that I wasn't a Burger person. For me it just wasn't fun, and I think the suspension was a bit low rent. I think the BMW has the better fundamentals, but of course, costs even more.

I have owned the Burger and loved it but the thing the Burger lacked was soul. I would love to try the Beemer.

No way! Even Suzuki admit the Burger actually weighs close to 280kg these days, don't they??? No weight is quoted on the Suzuki GB site, but Scooter Station say 277kg wet. Its one heavy muther......

If you want a touring scoot. Why restrict yourself to 2. Whats wrong with the GP 800?
