Maxi upgrade

Post by DMAC64 »

Hello to all Muppets. I'm thinking of getting a bigger maxi scoot to replace my current X9 250. Any suggestions of what to look for ? I was possibly looking at a T-max. But as yet have not decided. Any pointers would be great, thanks.

Hello and welcome aboard. I have a few maxi's, burgman 400, tmax 500 and the nexus 500. If I was to buy another I would go for the Aprilia Mana only because I haven't had one, but if your looking at a maxi scoot then a tmax would be for me. I had a mk1 but if I could I would go for a mk2 or 3.

Thanks for the welcome, and the info. I've only had the x9 18 months. My previous long term machine was a Bandit 600, but I wanted to try a maxi as a good mate of mine has had several x9s' as well as a Nexus 500, & they looked good fun  . Now I would like a bit more grunt. I have an eye on a 2003 T-max that's for sale near me, and was looking at a very tidy Burgman 400 too. So much choice , so little time ! I had heard that there are some issues with the Suzuki :? , e.g, clutch, but I would a like more reliable source before I jump in. So ant help would be great. Thanks. :D

The Tmax is a very reliable machine, you won't regret that machine.

The T-max would probably suit you fine, depends what you want it for really. Oh and welcome icon_wink-.gif Wales.gif

Thanks for your time. I have wanted to give maxi scoots a go for a while and i don't regret it now that i've given it a go. But i would love a bit more grunt.

Tmax with dr pulley rollers will give you plenty of grunt compared to your 250 :D

No major issues with a Burgman 400 clutch that has been reported apart from a squeel that some have had, but dust is normally the issue? It's my opinion that the K7+ 400 models are mechanically excellent. Like every scooter, as long as you maintain it as per the Suzuki recommended schedule. My K8 400 has nearly 31,000 miles and still rides great.
