An article on MCN's website reminded me of the time I got pulled up for accelerating 'briskly' from a junction to slot into moving traffic!
My experience was EXACTLY the same!
I wonder if it's in the rozzers training Script!

Pulling out of a petrol station on the way to work yesterday morning, I glanced over my shoulder, clocked a safe gap in the traffic and succumbed to the temptation to nail it.
Amidst the traffic was a police car, which I didn’t spot until it appeared in my mirrors, lights flashing and siren blaring. Oh dear.
“What do you think you were doing?” the officer asked. “It’s a 50mph speed limit. We’re doing 60 and you’re pulling away from us, so I’d say about 70. We’re in a marked police car. Didn’t you see us?”
“I saw cars but not a police car,” I said feebly.
“Can I just point out that it quite clearly says ‘Police’ on that vehicle?” he said. I couldn’t argue. It did. “Engage your brain,” he said. “If there’s a police car there, don’t go so fast.”
Then he got back into his car and drove away, proving that London police can be very reasonable.
He was right to give me a telling off. The episode doesn’t say much for my observation skills. My brain is now engaged.

Used to get pulled over a fair bit when I was a yoof in the 80s. Best one was when I was driving my Allegro Sport briskly: copper said "what do you think you're driving? A Mach 1?" Then there was the time I was caught good and proper but it was knocking out time and the copper could not get through to check my details. It was a freezing cold winter night and after 10 minutes he got so fed up he just told me "to f*** off and be more careful".

About 35 years ago I was driving my battered up MK2 Cortina on a Saturday afternoon and got pulled up by the police in Wanstead. They (rightly) said that I had a badly damaged wing, no washers, faulty handbrake and a noisy exhaust. They searched my boot and saw my mechanics tool set. They gave me a producer. I drove away and they stopped me again just 100 yards up the road. They asked me if I was a mechanic and when I said I was they said to follow them back to the station to look at one of their cars and they would sort me out. I went back and ended up clearing the carb out on an old petrol Landrover in the station car park. They asked if I had MOTand insurance, which I did so they said just get the car off the road until its fixed, produce my documents and I'd be alright. I produced the documents at Stratford nick as I lived near there. Next day, Sunday, I thought I'd just nip to the pub in the afternoon. I pulled out of my cul-de-sac and there was a copper waiting in a car. He nicked me for the same things and actually said, "Don't bother bringing your documents down, we've got the details at the nick already"! It was only the bastard who was on desk duty when I produced my documents the previous day!!!

Good on 'em, I say. Got to keep the riff-raff out of Wanstead...

That was a bit rough but I guess he didn't know how helpful you'd been.

Last time I got pulled over, he said, (and I quote), "I didn't like the way that your were indicating on that roundabout sir. Now, if you wouldn't mind, awfully, blowing into this machine, I would be eternally grateful".

My last encounter with the Police was when I was filtering through a long queue of very slow moving traffic and came up behind a Police BMW bike doing the same thing only slower.
He pulled over into a gap and waved me through.
Which was very nice of him.

I must admit a N Yorks policeman let me off speeding in Malton, and a Cleveland bike-cop merely had a 'word' when I was getting a bit agressive with the traffic one day. My neighbour claims to have been let off by another Cleveland traffic cop when he was followed down a local dual carriageway at 95+ on his ZX6-R

Talking of speeding, the other day I was trundling down the same dual carriageway at my normal 80ish, when some sort of vaguely sporty looking SEAT came past me like I was standing still........

The last time I got "pulled" was a number of years ago when I had an old (and very tired) Puch Maxi moped as a work hack. The works exit was at a traffic light controlled junction with the main dual carriageway into town. I was stopped waiting for the lights to change to green, and noticed a stationary patrol car on the far side of the dual carriageway. As the lights changed to green, I gave the Maxi full throttle, and peddled furiously to coax it up to its maximum 22.5 mph. About a quarter of a mile down the road, I checked my mirror before making a left turn, and saw that the patrol car was behind me. As I made my turn, the cop followed me, then pulled along side and signalled me to stop. He said he stopped me because as I had crossed at the traffic lights (at which point I was about 30 yards away from him), he thought my tax disc was out of date!! He did have the grace to look sheepish when he looked and found it wasn`t. Should have gone to Specsavers.

The last time I got pulled was that the policeman wanted to know 'why I didn't have L plates on my ped' (I was behind a couple of chavs with L plates on their 50cc's) when I had my 500cc Nexus and a full license... that was funny

I'd take it as a compliment that he thought you were 16 years old!
