Any thoughts ok which is the best knee and/or hip inserts?
A lot of new stuff has come out since I last bought any. I will sift through the web but welcome any comments.
More interested in level of protection than anything else.

I'm not up to speed with latest developments either! However, I always trust Knox stuff to be very good quality and protective.
I also find the Hein Gericke flexible armour quite nice to wear (especially if you are walking) as its relatively thin and flexible.

D3O if you want the best, check Get Geared as they have it IIRC.
I have had Knox for the Hood jeans for a while, pretty good but like most a bit bulky, hence preference now for D3O if you can afford it.

Re: Which knee/hip armour
Thanks chaps, I'll have a look at those.
I've ordered myself another pair of Hood jeans. I also got some cheap Aldi ones and I will be robbing the Kevlar out of those to use as an extra layer in the new Hoods
That should give some thermal seperation if I go Blacktop sledging on the standard lining. I thought I would treat myself to some top notch armour while I was at it and top it off with a decent high end waterproof layer to replace my ageing HG stuff.

I'm not keen on armour in the knees. I find it uncomfortable.Sylar wrote:Bluebottle i have a bag full of armour i've taken out of Jackets, trousers and god knows what else i don't like the stuff, and remove it as soon as i get anything new.
Here's a scientific test
Interesting results!

Re: Which knee/hip armour
D3O came as standard on my Rukka pants (hips and knees).
It's kinda orange, and full of holes, and shaped into this flexy pad thing.

Not had to test it's protective properties fortunately!
