Short ride out report from Cannon Hall meet on Sunday

Just a quick ride out report.
Last Saturday I put out a quick text around the Northern Riders for a get together.
5 of us met up at Junction 39 M1 at the Cedar Court Hotel. Thats Me plus Wife, Alan, Mark, Clive and Chris.
It was great to see Chris making his first trip out with us. His red Aprillia making a great contrast with the grey and black Burgmans.
Leaving the Hotel with Alan leading we took the back roads up to Bretton. Fighting the urge to visit the Sculpture park which had a display by Yinka Shonibare currently on offer we went onwards towards Cannon Hall.
Alan knows this route very well and he set a good pace. The view over the valley towards Barnsley was amazing. Britain is a fantastic place when the Sun shines, nowhere better for a ride. I know some don’t like riding in a group but for me watching a line of Bikes take a corner in sequence is just great. Not to mention of course the social side when we stop – which we did at Cannon Hall. We met a contender for the Worlds Grumpiest Biker who was surprisingly on his own - Miserable Git.
Sitting in the Sun with friends and in my case - Wife who would not stay home - eating Bacon based snacks with Tea - Simple pleasures.
Moving on we decided to head towards Penistone and onwards over the Woodhead Pass towards Manchester. Even though the Sun shone the temperature over the pass dropped noticeably. Turning off towards Holme Moss we climbed again till we reached the summit, paused to admire the view, shivered briefly then descended into Holmfirth. Loads of bikes outside the Cafe including a Silverwing.
It had warmed up again as I lead the group back to Wakefield. Losing Mark who turned off for home in Lepton. Four of us plus the Mrs ended back at our house for a Coffee and a chat.
A last minute ride turned out to be a little Gem. Out at 10.00am back at 1.00pm. Chris who normally heads off towards North Yorks was impressed by the ride and views.
I understand that Pics were taken – not by me though so if anyone has any from the ride please share them around.
