My next step was the spark plugs, the old ones I took out were... well it says on them NKG CRE7, nothing special. When I bought the TMax from Lyn he gave me some supplies of which there were two spark plugs. I had not really paid them much attention until I got my ones out and took a look. They were DENSO Iridium Power IU22's, I had to go check on the internet to make sure they were the right size, not that I don't trust Lyn. My old plugs came out looking like this...
Being a naive novice amateur mechanic I had not heard of Denso before, I have since seen decals etc on bikes and cars that say Denso, having had NGK Iridium's in my Nexus and enjoyed the difference in the power delivery I thought to myself if Lyn gave them to me they must be worth it. So I popped them in... and took the Tmax for a spin and...


....zzzoooOOMOFMG!!!! What a fucking difference!!!


I know the NKG's were a bit dirty (not sure how bad maybe someone could tell me if they needed changing), maybe that affected the power some what but I don't remember the TMax feeling this good in power delivery when I first got it from Lyn. With the 15g Dr Pulley's I can feel some front lift on take off but with the Denso's it definitely lifting more (much more than the Nexus). The front wheel does not leave the ground and I have no wish for it to, but its the only way I can describe the extra power delivery I am getting...

This may not be good for my mpg because I think I will be enjoying the take off for a month or two, I might get around to seeing if it improves my mpg later on... we'll see.

well you gone from standard plug to iridium, which is far better, an iridium tip gives gives a stronger spark, yet you will still get carbon build up so best take them out once a month for a clean, what a difference a spark can make
because the nexus is a single cylinder with 80 degree spread of injected fuel i went for silver centre electrode premium LGS Brisk Racing plug

i have always used a small wire brush , then set gap again afterwards, just to get any carbon deposits of, you cant generally get the discolouring off, i dont think

i asked magnum tuning in america where i got my plug from and they stock the tmax 500 LGS silver electrode plugs, they offer 10% discount if ordered through there website, over there ebay listing as you would require two plugs, but there response is below if you fancied trying them out

if you have the spare cash, then buy them, and you will keep the iridiums as spares
not kidding when i took my brisk plug out after 5 months in scoot, it was as clean as it went in!!! so all fuel is burnt and no carbon deposits, which means also the inlet valves and seals are not getting deposits. i know most people say ,,, well mines ok so why bother.. but if you want to, then go for it and will await your verdict. the injectors will compensate for first few miles as all fuel is burnt and then should in theory use less fuel.. one of the best that can happen is you will feel the difference in the pick up and wont need any other plug for 15,000 miles. Then with a racing air filter your beast can breathe easy, and take a bigger gulp of air,
