I'm a possibility for this, is there a need to book in well in advance.

You can book saver rate which is non refundable but may go up in price as rooms are taken or flexible rate which is more expensive but you can cancel and get refund I think up to day of arrival not sure if its before 3pm.Week day ones should be ok friday saturday are ones where it may fill up and its peak holiday season.
