Just bought a 2003 500 Atlantic. I'm new to scoots having previously had bikes, and am really looking forward to a few miles on the AA500. The machine is in wonderful condition, has 14000 on the clock and has been really well looked after. Just keeping my fingers crossed that none of the known gremlins with these appear !

I also have an atlantic, currently mine has one of those gremlins (oops, think I broke the engine a bit). Something I'll sort when it's a bit cooler.

Main thing in the early models is the thermostat, if your temperature guage doesn't get upto the 3 o clock position pretty quickly after setting off then replace the thermostat immediately. Petrol in the oil is a classic symptom & eats the plastic oil pump rotor.

Another favourite is the regulator not charging the battery, but the real problem is the feed from the regulator to the battery through the fuse box being made of spaghetti (italian cable), replace those cables & pop an inline fuse in & you'll be sorted.

Everything else is pretty solid. You already know how well they handle & just how comfy they are.
