I've been riding for a few years now and apart from a couple of low speed offs and the occasional horn hooted at me it's been fairly uneventful until this morning:
I was going to work as normal and I was filtering between two lines of stationary traffic held up at a red light. I got so far then I had to stop next to this guys bonnet 'cause there was a lorry blocking the way. Done this a million times before.
As I was sitting there the van in front of the car next to me started to pull forward a bit, must have been closing a gap 'cause the lights were still red. I edged forward but was aware that this guy to my left also edged forward preventing me from pulling in. That's unusual I thought. At that moment the lights changed and we moved off but unlike normal this guy kept pace with me making me ride along between the lanes then he pulled to his left into a bus lane and as he accelerated (I was then behind another vehicle) he screamed out of his open window "You Fuckin Wanker!"
I was a bit stunned by this but carried on riding over the cross roads and at the other side was again held up by traffic at which point I realised this bloke had pulled into a parking bay at the side of the road and again screamed out of his window "You bastard, and you wonder why you get knocked off" I was riding away at this point.
Bizarre.

Folk like that are best given a vigorous ignoring to.
Or a well aimed boot depending on your preference.

Agree completely with gn2. Just ignore. Some people are crazy and he was just jealous of you because you could move forward and he couldn't.

Re: Crazy Cager
Your not alone.
Just last week I was riding down a road with cars all parked on my right side approaching a T junction when a car turned left down in the street and pulled out, I saw him easily before he turned in so he must have seen me. But he rolled to a stop in front of me I had already come to a stop. He just looked at me for a few seconds. I waved my hand forward to indicated he should back up as the street it gravelly and I would be trying to go up an incline if I backed up.
He shouted through his window 'I was just about to move, don't fucking tell me too move!'
So I wait for him to reverse and give me room and start forwards then he opens his door partially and partly blocks my route. He then starts having a go...
'I was just about to fucking move, you don't have to tell me to fucking move'
I replied calmly 'You looked like you expected me to get out of the way as you sat there for a few seconds'.
'I could fucking see you I fucking started to reverse straight away'
That didn't tally up as he only move after I waved him back, he shouted at me, then reversed...
So I just said 'Whatever' and pulled around...
'What did you fucking say? I'll smash your fucking head in, fucking bikers!'
I just powered away... he didn't follow. But I thought to my self... How are you going to smash my head in? I am wearing a helmet... and I am wearing armour gloves and gear who does he think would win the fight?
The guy probably had a bad night and I don't really care.

Re: Crazy Cager
There is an awful lot of aggression waiting to come out in some drivers. It's us bikers who can bear the brunt of it. Of course, there are some twits on bikes that don't do the rest of us any favours either. I'm sure some car drivers think we are all the same in that respect on two wheels. Ignoring these reprobates is often the best way forward if you can.
Probably not ugly enough for the 'Ugly Bunch'!

Re: Crazy Cager
Mel you did the right thing to ride on, sadly there are lot of people who become unstable when driving (and sadly when riding). I have been a JP for 25 years and have had to deal with terrible cases of road rage. Look at the press of a couple of weeks ago a guy was killed over a row about a supermarket parking place. The other week I was stuck in a traffic jam on the M25 I was filtering. Most cars pulled over to make it easier but some old boy in a new Range Rover moved over to block my path. Its the if I cant have it nor can you attitude, sad old world, take care out there.
Maximum respect
