Rode into Brighton yesterday on one of two bus lanes bikers are now allowed to use-well its a start. On the other hand London seems to be going backwards. Now I admit I don't ride into central London very often but it seems to me that all the bike spaces are permit only. How friendly is that !

Harlow has a bikes allowed bus lane running from east to west through it, I ride along it on purpose occasionally just to piss off car drivers

i looked at him and said i didnt think any push bikes stopped at red lights
next time you pass that sign have a good look at it, now piss off and dont spoil my day

I rarely use the normal lanes in London, as they usually are packed and going on the oncoming lane is not as safe as bus lanes. I haven't had a ticket yet in the last 6 years. Admittedly, i don't go into Westminster council area for commuting, so maybe i'm in a more biker friendly route

Haha. Yes, Westminster and Lambeth aren't biker friendly, not that I go there but the bar steward that has altered his registration number to look like mine has got two bus lane PCN's coming his way!

Not many bus lanes where I live but those we do have are motorcycle/scooter friendly. We have lots of free parking in and around the town for bikes too. In fact, if you want to get anywhere in my town you really need a scooter or bike to avoid the traffic gridlock at peak times!

In Doncaster we are allowed to park wherever we like for free, I asked a traffic warden and his reply was that you could park on double yellows if you want, they have been told not to hassle bikers/scooterists! Nice. However the downside is that we have bus lanes and motorcycles are not allowed in them.

All bus lanes are bike friendly in Brum (Except the contra flow on the A38M) and have been for years.
