Newbie in Kent

Hi all, I'm new to maxi-scoots and have just bought a used Burgman 400. Had bikes on and off since I was 16 (now 63) and decided I wanted something more practical. Great that there's an active forum where good advice will be available, it's always a bit of a steep learning curve when you get into something new. Other interests include light aviation and following Moto GP - though I doubt I'll be scraping my elbows like Marc Marquez on the Burgman. I live on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent (someone has to) and hope to be able to make the odd worthwhile contribution in due course. Thanks in advance for the good advice that will undoubtedly come in answer to even my dumbest questions.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome. Kayz1 if you flew a D9 then you'll have heard about the Popular Flying Association, now the Light Aircraft Association which oversees the building of light aircraft from kits and plans. I've been a member since 1976. We had our annual Rally last weekend at Sywell aerodrome near Northampton and over 1000 aircraft flew in. I know there are any number of bike meets but are there any scooter/Burgman specific annual gatherings'? I know there's a section on this website about events but which are the 'must do' ones.
Thinking back I had a Vespa for a while over 40 years ago. I was a typically skint apprentice at CAV in Rochester (part of the Lucas Group who made diesel injection equipment) and when my BSA Bantam died an old boy who was retiring sold me his Vespa for about £20. Served me well for a while on my 20 mile each way commute.

Hi and welcome, there were two Jodels hangared at Portmoak years ago, I was lucky enough to fly both of them.
But gliders was the thing for me.
