Pleased to hear that there was a simple explanation for the leak after all this! Fingers crossed the crank swap will eliminate the vibes.

The explanation for the leak is even simpler — Mr. Hamfist had been at it again - the drain plug is listed by CMSNL as 12mm Dia, - that on my case is 14mm so it’s been bored and re-tapped probably on the skew!

Cheers Jim, Ive found some very good copy mirrors from Thailand for £40 , dont know if they are any good but unless I can pick up up some used OEM parts ill have to give these a try

Just been sorting spares for Helix ready to take to Matt Pope Motorcycles Ltd ( my Helix re-builder) on Monday....... unsurprisingly I’ve found that I’ve double ordered several parts - one of which is very interesting, it’s the rubber pipe that the carb mounts on, this one is marked for CH250 bought quite a while ago, but it’s different in construction in that rather than being basically rubber it’s a very hard plastic-like substance having strengthening indents either side and its mighty strong and could not break I’m sure. When the bike is reassembled I’ll have this fitted in place of the existing one which is ok but prob weaker, - we’ll see. With the bike goes a very large plastic box full of parts including front and rear HAGON shocks, new engine hangar with bushes, Crankshaft with bearings and other bits.

Yes indeed Andrew it should, can’t wait to ride it..... despite conspiracies seeming to prevent me - just yesterday, a day full of stair rod rain and cold, our 20 year old boiler went AWOL with failed spark ignition, following an inspection by a recommended electrical eng. expensive replacement parts would almost equate to the cost of a new boiler - so now I’m committed to spending around £2000 for replacement next week, ....it never Rains but it Pours just when I don’t need it!
