Back on the road

Post by luandablue »

7 weeks on from the theft of my Burgman, I've got myself a nice Honda Pantheon for my commute over the winter while I decide what to do next.

Ok, so it could do with quite a few more horses, but it gets me into Manchester and back in the same time as the Burgman, is very comfortable, more economical, smoother at low speed, and wriggles through gaps I'd have baulked at on the Suzuki.

I think it's very good actually, a quality machine and arguably better suited to the vast majority of my use. In fact, I'd consider keeping it long term or swapping it for an S-Wing with ABS, but I'm really missing my Burgman ZA and I suspect I'll be looking for another one before too long.

Good move, gives you the time to find the right bike. icon_wink-.gif Wales.gif

A great scoot the pantheon, ideal for winter commuting and more, I did a 200 mile ride round north wales on my s-wing, no problem. Glad your back in the road. icon_thumbs_up.gif

Good to hear.

If its any help, the S Wing is a superb bike to live with, more sophisticated than the Pantheon (including the engine) and more luxurious. I couldn't fault it for town use, even on fast roads and the M60 now and again and there aren't many 125s I'd take on the motorway.

If you turn the other way and head for the Pennines, mine only dipped below 60 on the very steepest sections like Dovestones Resevoir. It was only a smudge but enough to make me feel I was holding the traffic up sometimes. Once in a blue moon was ok but i traded up purely because I started doing that trip regularly. On a longer ride, the motorway or ride with friends - I definately appreciate having a few more horses.

If there was a bigger S Wing I would have bought one. For town only I'd have kept the old one. Honda still haven't closed that gaping hole in their range.

I bought a 125 Pantheon on a whim off eBay in 2006 and got a real bargain - I think I paid around £1500 it was only 6 weeks old. Got me into scootering. Took my bike test while I had it and eventually moved up to my SH300. I think I damn near broke even when I px'd it 3 years later for a new SH300. Still got the SH and that is my daily commuter bike but also have a Burgman too which is mainly for European trips and the odd fair weather weekend ride out. The Pantheon was a nice comfortable scooter with a top box and plenty of storage.
Paddle harder. I can hear banjo music!

Isn't that supposed to be where the Forza comes in?
