Suzuki or Yamaha.

Hi all, simple question with I suspect a complex answer. I intend to buy either a T Max 530 or a new model Burgman 650. I have ridden the Burgman and very impressed I was to. However trying to get a test ride on a T Max is like trying to get a politician to tell the truth, in other words, impossible. Any of you good people out there got any practical experience of both and could help with an objective comparison. Here's hoping.
Geoff.

From what I've seen they're different machines. The Burger is a tourer that you sit in, the Yamaha is a sports bike that you sit on.
So it very much depends on what you want to do with it. Once you've decided that, the decision should be easy.
Personally, all things being equal, marginally, I'd go for the Yamaha because the Burgman will be a bit of a barge around town.

I think the new Burgman can do more than a tourer ...

i think, it's more of what you want from a machine..burger is big comfy tourer with loads of storage...an tmax is a sports scooter with very little storage. personally i'd go for burgman for the storage an more comfort...

if its long comfy journeys and practicality, go burgman, if its round the door fun with some longer blasts in the twistys with a big grin factor for handling, tmax everytime, I had one, it out handled most big bikes on the twistys no problem, I want another one!

Well...the short answer is that the Tmax is most FUN.
I had a Burger for a while, and it was OK, but after a while it just stopped being entertaining.
I know people say its great as a tourer, but frankly I didn't find it THAT comfortable. The suspension is generally inferior to the TMax - the Burger's ride utterly goes to pieces on bumpy roads. The mk4 Tmax is actually a bit softer than prevous ones, so its comfortable. But the Tmax's chassis & suspension is just so much more sophisticated and effective than the Burger's.
The Burger's trump card was its huge storage space, but the new one has cut it down a bit. OK it still has way more than the Tmax, but you can get any sort of helmet plus gloves, waterproofs etc or a decent sized bag under the Tmax seat.
The Burger has more power, but it doesn't go much faster given the huge weight.
OK you do get an electric screen, whizzy electric folding mirrors and heated seats on the Burger, whilst the TMax is sparsely equipped.
Personally I would never choose a Burger over a TMax, but I know some people seem to get the Burger and don't get the Tmax

As long as you don't want to go round too many corners....

I think you'll find that it has a fully functioning steering system

TMax has enough space for 1 full face helmet and a netbook along with other gubbins under the seat, the mk3 any way... not sure if the mk4 has the same space.
