Got stopped by the Police on the way to work last Wednesday...
doing nothing wrong, they had the Bromley Road Safety lot with them, and after the spate of cyclist fatalities, and recent bike crashes etc, out to promote safety - with the offer od a free bike safe ride... so took em yp on the offer....

early start today, dry but fresh, 6 riders from ZZR1400 to a 50cc Jog - two lots of two on the biggies and 600s - leaving me with my own observer - nice... and the jog 50 with her own observer... class room for an hour or so, 45 min ride about town - Frankie and Bennies for lunch, and an hour and half or so down the lanes... back to HQ @ the Warren Keston for Tea 'n Biscuits and a de-brief... A Good day...

Nice being assessed on roads / lanes that I frequently ride - all good, PC was impressed with the 400 scoot.

Worth the £45 if you had to pay - well worth the time if you don't...

For those in kent - if you happened to be stopped last Wed near Bromley College R'Bout (wink) and contact ESD Road Safety (Group) - they may well send you a code to use as payment on the bike safe website...

Bike safe and similar events are very good and give an intro to advance riding. I did the bike safe some time ago and then went on to become an RosPA advanced rider. I did mine when I had my Vstrom 650 and although they say I can maintain my status using the now, Silverwing 600, I am unsure.... However, in 18 months time I shall find out as that's when I have to take my re test....

IAM may have been a better option as you have it for life...... :?

Glad you had a good experience. Shame I had a really poor one with a arrogant instructor who wasn't the old bill and had s poor opinion of scooters.

Good point Lyn, most people who take advanced training think after the course that thats it. You need top up observed rides now and again to make sure your standard or riding isnt picking up any bad habbits, and there's always something possitive to gain from it, even if its only a bit of confidence.
