MT09 Demo

I took The MT09 On a demo ride last week from Raceways,Fleetwood. Omg its so small and lightweight and the engine is very smooth, you sit far forward like a trial bike, but its very comfy, soo much low down grunt even in 6th from 30mph, I didnt notice to much of the snatchy fueling they mention in reviews, and not to much difference in standard mode to A mode, B mode kinda numbs it, but still ideal for heavy rain, or very lazy riding, but on this you will never want to ride slow, lol its a hooligan bike, if anyone ever rode a 350LC or YPVS, its like that but with more than double the BHP, 2nd gear overtakes end up on the back wheel, it just comes up ! I even felt the front want to lift in 4th on a bumpy back road, so not an ideal bike for 2 up fun.
Motorway saw an indicated 130mph with 2K revs still to go, round town I didnt take it much past 6-7K revs, you dont need to and the front wheel still lifts, the guages show instant mpg or average mpg, which is handy, the starter is the kill switch, just slide it down to start up to kill. the indicator switch it smaller than usual and a little fiddly.
The low down grunt is equal to a 1000cc bike easily.
If I was single, I would definately get one, to be a boy racer all over again, as a filtering bike its fantastic, and 100KG lighter than my burg 650, when I jumped back on to the burg I did notice the extra weight straight away, and I also noticed no wind blast up my sleeves, I had to stop the MT09 and adjust my jacket sleeve wrist straps at one point it got so bad,

I've ridden one. Didn't like it at all with its snatchy throttle, tallness and the way it was built down to a price. It also looks a bit "manga". The Street Triple looks much nicer and rides much nicer, which is why I've ordered the latter.

Meldrew your almost always on a downer on almost everyones comments. Motorway was quiet at 2.45pm and on a bike its a lot quicker to get to those speeds, unlike some cars.
Nice one Dougi.

I still like the MT01 but at the moment it has to be the XV950, it just looks finished if you know what I mean

Hard to think of something positive to say to someone who thinks its OK to flout the speed limit on a public road endangering other people on a borrowed bike then state that they had done so on a public forum rather than keep their mouth shut.

That kind of person would be a really stupid cnut.

A stupid Cnut?
You might have a point there. :D
Especially if they slagged other people off for doing exactly the same thing

Ton up stuff round all the tourist attractions, knee down round the front of Buckingham Palace, that sort of thing.
Didn't think much of the place tbh.

Ah but the difference is that I was a stupid cnut back then but with age has come wisdom.
I don't do that sort of shit anymore.

I had a demo ride in September and must say I didn't think I would like the MT09 at all. 500 yds down the road how wrong I was. Being a tallish git the bike looked too small for me but it was comfortable and really a fun ride. I wasn't too fussed on the small dash but there we are. The engine had loads of grunt, and that triple symphony is a delight. I had no trouble getting used to the sharp throttle response and never exceeded a speed limit throughout the ride.

If I wanted a hooligan street bike I'd have gone for it. Now if they brought out an adventure style bike with that engine I'd put my order in now. icon_wink-.gif Wales.gif

On a quiet motorwat in the afternoon, these speeds are defo do'able, the yamaha will get up to speed quickly, and brake quickly, and if the road ahead is clear your not really endangering anyones life , are you.
