I've had my Burgman a while and still can't get over ho wbad the forks are.
Has anyone had success getting them to work better, please?
And, of course, if you have what did you do?

Have you had the bike from new?
I don't remember my K9 having bad forks.

It's a 2004 with barely 5000 miles under it's belt.
Front is very harsh over small bumps, not at all plush, and tops out easily.
Bike wallows round corners and steering generally feels vague.

I uprated the fork oil in my K3 bike, not sure it did great deal but worth checking the state of your oil, if it's original it'll be doing very little.

Also may have had seal leak and not been correctly topped up. IIRC there's some Hagon springs you could "upgrade" to relatively cheaply.

Also make sure you're running correct tyre pressure and that isn't what's in the Suzuki manual as they've no idea what tyres you've got fitted (now), so go with the tyre manufacturers guidance, often it's quite a bit lower and can help absorb more road impact.

Can't remember if the springs are progressive, but I did find on another scoot that some bright spark had put one spring back upside down, which certainly made for harsher ride!

At 10 years old, the fork maintenance could have been forgotten for all that time. Good time to check them out, springs, are they the serviceable length still, empty out each leg and check if they had the right amount of oil, with such a heavy bike the oil needs changing, sometimes water gets in past the seals or condensation.
A common fault on Pan-Europeans was water contamination in the oil, they needed frequent fork oil changes.

My srv is very hard on fork oil and at a 6 month inspection it was shot , as others have said good time to give them an overhaul .

I think freshening up the existing stuff is the way to go to start with.
Your comments reminded me of how much improvement there was when I did same to my CX500 (a long time ago).
Surely the standard/factory equipment can't be as bad as it seems right now.....

Coming to this a bit late, but I put Hyperpro springs and some 15wt fork oil (to existing level) - bets hundred quid spent on the SigFiddy.

The wheels are heavy, maaan, so anything you can do to improve bump compliance without letting the springs be overcome is going to be good - after 22,000 miles the default springs had sagged a lot, so it's also worth doing a static sag check - I think I've detailed the how-to and the numbers in the forum before, if not it's over at Burgman USA forum.

I also put Hyperpro progressives in two of my 650's did the job. also had Fournals air shocks on the back end..bloody brill

Fitting Hyperpo progressive springs transformed my 08 650.
Now just waiting for Hyperpro or Hagon to produce similar spring kits for the 2013 onwards Burgman.
