Was out for a run with my mate Dave on his X10 we stopped in Kirby Stephen to check our route on setting off his oil light came on so pulled over to check oil level which was OK so carried on steadily waiting for any bang,s or crashes, light started to flicker on and off then went off for a good while. Stopped in Hawes to check again all seemed OK, anyway got home with no further light on. So this morning checked oil level again this time oil was at the low level and oil was sprayed around the exhaust side of the engine. Waiting now for dealer,s attention, will keep you informed. PS, mileage is 14,500 mile.

I know its not especially relevant but I had something slightly similar on my mk3 Tmax when the oil filter corroded through (!), so when oil was pumped through it was neatly being sprayed on the tyre. As its a dry sump there was no oil leak in the garage, but the combination of an oily tyre and a sudden shower of rain on a Pennine Road gave me one helluva scary slide!

I had oil filter do same on silver wing I had luckily was on drive and had spare filter .

I'd also check the filter is secured properly too.

How about THIS? My MK3 Tmax has a PC Racing FLO Oil Filter that is all machined aluminum and stainless steel...

Check oil pressure switch, they can leak where the wires come out and switch goes faulty.

Very nice, but a bit extravagant for a disposable part! Or is there a replaceable filter element in there?

The X10 filter is similar in nature but comes as a disposable type:

Its not disposable, I think you clean it.

I suspect you just change the insert and screw it all back together again.

Quite impressed the X10 has a separate paper filter in fact - it allows those big service intervals.
I also found out that the wet clutch is in the usual place, at the final drive (which takes a big 500cc of oil), which means you can run fully super-slippery synthetic in the engine (once run in). WHich is nice. Surprise it needs Xw50SAE oil though, very unusual these days, more use 40.
