Effect of Baffle in Akropovic T Max Nk 2 EFI

Post by tmaxrobbo »

Have mine out but it's pissing my wife off as she can hear me roaring off to work in the morning . Anyone run one with the Baffle DB killer in and if so does it blunt the performance . If it does she can get on with it !!

Are you getting extra performance that you can compare? to standard exhaust?

If you're pissing your wife off with your loud exhaust you're probably pissing everyone else off, me included if I was unfortunate enough to be in hearing distance. I've never understood this loud exhaust "loud pipes save lives" mentality, it's annoying, irritating, and a rather immature way of saying look at me.
Mildew thats a bit harsh.
If we wanted to buy a tractor we would ride Hardleys wright . why shouldnt one have something that isnt a sewing machine .If thats what makes us feel better.and spins our wheels then that is healthy
Further more it will give you extra performance and we cant all be all wrong.sometimes sound may be associated with breathing

It's not Akropovic, it's Akrapovič I know that and I haven't got one of their exhausts.

i Know I should know better !! But it does sound good , My wife is intolerant of all things bike orientated so perhaps we can dismiss that !! Standard Mk 3 Pipe is pretty fruity without an special Pipe . I just wondered if making it Quieter with the end baffle in would blunt the startling take off it has now :)

I'm with Meldrew.
I had a scorpion exhaust a few years ago on a runner. It did replace a rusted exhaust so wasn't bought on a whim but it occasionally gave me a headache.
More recently I considered buying a Mivv for my mk2 tmax.
I really like the look of them but after following SteveM with his mivved up tmax on a couple of runs, I decided against.
What a racket!
As for performance, I'm not skillfull or brave enough to use what a tmax has now, let alone adding more.
Saying that,, I have got a jcosta in the mk2 but I only leave it in as it gives me better mpg than standard.

Yes...on the wretched baby Burger, the exhaust was seriously rusted, so I bought the cheapest exhaust I could find (Suzuki wanting £700+ for one of theirs), which was a Gianelli. Even though it was road legal with a baffle, what a racket. An unpleasant roar all the time.

Yes tmaxrobbo Bottom end to mid range is where i have greater performance, there is no question about it.Yes it is noisey but once cruising is normal.
Any way like you the bigger maxis are heavy until rolling so like you any performance gain down there is a good thing.
