Is it me, or has Appleby's gone a bit 'off' lately? Me and senior management went there a couple of weeks ago, and it seemed a bit drab and tired. Mind you, I don't think they've redecorated for years!!

BTW, did you go down left off the A16 on your way out there? I saw a white Maxi on Peartree Lane going towards the reservoir this morning. ( I was on my bike, supposedly training - more like trying to stop being blown off the road!)

Hi Burgerman, if it was two up that would be me down Peartree Lane, shot across the junction from the top road. Appleby's as you say does not seem the same since it changed hands, the ice cream is still good but there is just some thing missing.

Bloody hell! When did the Poacher close? I know it's a few years since I last stayed there, but jeez!

I think the Poacher closed around Christmas, or just before,not really sure. Used to live down the road a bit from there, never seemed to be many in when I went past. My next door neighbour used to go in for a meal sometimes, but he gave up on them eventually.
Apparently, the plan is to restore it to it's 'former glory', and sell it as a house/apartments.
