Sym citycom 300i

Post by Capt. R Swipe »

Hello All,

I'm in the market for a lighter step through scoot around the 300cc mark. I know about the SH300i - it is highly regarded by Muppets and most owners- and I have been leaning towards this scoot. I have also considered the Xmax 250 but today came across the Citycom 300i.

Is the Citycom 300 available new in the UK, would anyone know? Not having owned a SYM but hear lots about them would this be a match for the venerable SH300i?

Could someone clear this up for me please?

Tim

Forgive me Muppets!

Given time here I could have answered my own questions! Yep, there is some good stuff on the Citycom in Scooter Reviews.

Perhaps the Citycom 300i is off my list now.

I think the Citycom was deleted from the UK model range.
My local Honda dealer has a mint used one for three grand.
Other interesting lesser known 300 size scoots are the TGB Bellavita 300 (Sym Citycom engine) £3800
Daelim S3 Advance 250 £3300
WK GTR300 £2300

I test rode a Joymax 300 and was impressed with it. I decided I wanted something a little bigger but because of my impressions with the Joymax the Maxsym went to the top of my list which I eventually purchased. There are lots of good reviews for the Joymax and the new model seems to be improved even more with stop start technology etc. The Maxsym was my first SYM and i have to say i have been impressed with its build quality and rock solid reliability. Depending where you live dealers can be a problem to find but I cannot fault the support I have received from SYM UK, Steve who writes on here from time to time is happy to help source bikes etc. You will know from my other posts that I am now waiting the arrival of my Maxsym 600 which is on order.

And of course for about the same money is the Kawasaki J300. Does not have a flat floor but is more of a step-tthrough than quite a few others.

If you are thinking about the SH300, then you could consider the Piaggio Beverly 350 - same idea, but more power, more comfort, and a lot more luggage space.

Thanks All,

Yes I have spotted that the Maxsym 600 has been ordered! And a lot of you are riding Sym and now the Kymco/Kawasaki J300.
My trouble is that I am a bit of a Jap Four snob in partictular Honda and Suzuki, knowing their reliability.
But the fact that you lot are riding these other makes is encouraging and makes me feel that I wanna let go of me snobbery!

That Citycom does look pretty though

I don't know where to find Piaggio in the Plymouth area for the Beverly 350.

Ok, thank you, I shall do some research and come back with questions. BTW, I don't hear much mention of Yamaha's Xmax, lots about the Tmax though.

Tim

PS I will certainly check out the Joymax 300. It and the J300 are quite a bit lighter than my Burg 400.
