Anyone found an alternative gas strut that is supposed to hold the seat up? I see a few cheaper patten ones on the US sites and guess a Suzuki replacement is likely to be expensive.

I got one from ebay last year. The exact one I purchased is no longer there, but this is pretty much identical. Worked a treat:

Surely that strut is not long enough?

It depends on the year. My K5 is about 20" extended (no bragging!) I think K7 on are shorter

Just got one of these struts and can confirm it fits and works well on a Burgman AN400 K8 - only takes 5 minutes to fit. Thanks Turisu for the link to eBay.
