Re: NC700 DCT X or S?
That looks like a very usable bike. Bloke on another forum had one as a loaner and, surprisingly, raved about it too. No DCT though and for that reason I'm out! ;D
Re: NC700 DCT X or S?
DCT isn't as smooth as I am.
DCT goes down through all the gears in sequence when slowing.
This is bloody annoying.

Re: NC700 DCT X or S?
I dont find it jerky, clunky, or annoying. I think you need to have a test ride tiapan to find out for yourself how it is, which I find very good.
Im not a gynecologist, but I dont mind taking a look.

Re: NC700 DCT X or S?
Never really done the test ride thing TBH. Bikes are something I buy without too much thought, just ask around a bit and then go for it. If it turns out I dont like it then it can just be sold again. I've been intrigued by the DCT system since it came out and always intended to buy one at some stage but probably when the get cheaper. Just find myself getting impatient...

Playing around with the different modes is a learning experience. I use all 3 - for instance I rode to work last night on my bike and I used manual mode both there and back. I'm off to work again shortly, but this time I'll be using a of Manual at first in order to get out onto the main road and then D mode.

I haven't tried a DCT bike - but I want to now!

Surely its supposed to change down through the gears?
Re: NC700 DCT X or S?
What annoyed me most was that it changed when I wasn't expecting or wanting it to.
The NC700X I rode definitely jerked with each change but it had less than 300 miles on the clock.
I just don't like DCT at all and I wouldn't buy a bike equipped with it.
The internal gubbins is extremely complex and would probably cost an arm and a leg to fix should something go wrong.

You're riding along in traffic in fourth gear and junction traffic lights ahead change to red.Taipan wrote:Surely its supposed to change down through the gears?
Do you:
a: brake and stop then change into neutral once stopped because you know you will be at the lights for a while
b: change down through all the gears into first as you brake to a stop because you can't see and are unaware of the reason why you are slowing
