Parts of Helmet likely to have impacts

Well, another thing to cause controversy and bitter argument! The link below refers to a helmet that has been painted to show the probably of that part of a helmet receiving an impact in a crash.

Figures come from the wonderfully named Hurt Report, which is apparently 'well known' though I hadn't heard of it.

Fascinating that the top of the helmet apparently receives few impacts, despite the place where the main focus of impact resistance seems to be and that the chin area receives the most impacts....if you aren't wearing an open face helmet anyway.

The Hurt report is pretty famous for being one of the the first big motorcycle studies.

I think the reasons why riders don't get to hear about it is that it tells bikers things they don't want to hear such as "riders wearing Hi-Vis had fewer accidents than those wearing black/drab/camouflage" and "bikes with big fairings and screens had fewer accidents than sports bikes and heavily altered bikes"; so biking media and biking "experts" would rather ignore it or say it isn't valid - it doesn't match what they want to believe.

It was also American and is quite old now
