Re: Message for spaceprobe
Morning Phil, I am getting on very well with the 600, for reasons I wont bore you with I am not getting out on it as much has I planned but when i do get out on it a smile always appears on my face. The extra weight is not that noticeable but the extra grunt and torque is. It a little slower off 0 than the 400 (but then the engine is still very tight). I love the smoothness of the throttle control and the engine braking is amazing and the extra power as come in very handy when the wind gets up on the coast road, all with that constant nice rumble from the exhaust. I have not had it out on the motorway yet but next month I have to go to a meeting in central London so looking forward to that run. The brakes are no longer linked in the ABS version and they do feel different and overall I think I prefer their action. I have become a convert to the top box , I can get so much stuff on the bike I am thinking of getting rid of the car. I am having an issue with the overfill filter in the fuel tank, this is a new concept to an old biker like me and I am not sure I am using it right. It seems to take for ages to fill, because you have to do it very slowly (oh my poor back) and I still seem to spill petrol on the forecourt. So if anybody as advice that would be appreciated. According to the monitoring app I use so far I am averaging 45 mpg. The colour as turned out to be so much better than I expected, its a doddle to clean and it always looks so smart. This means it attracts lots of attention so when ever it is parked up I often find other bikers looking at it. One youngster sitting on his moped and looking at my engine cover which states Maxsym 600 asked what size the engine was (bless), his face was a picture when I told him (awe and wonder). It as SYM plastered over it in more places than the 400 did, which gets people talking because there are still many people who have not heard of them. This means you end up being a bit of an ambassador for SYM filling people in on their history etc (note SYM where is my T shirt). So yes it was a risk buying it unseen and tested but so far no regrets I loved my 400 and has I have said before this just goes to the next level. £6k on the road with a three year warranty, its got to be a good buy, I just want to get out on that open road.

Good to hear, I hope the mpg eases as it runs in as that looks a tad low, maybe you're doing shorter runs or just exploring the new found POWER?

Not been out on the open road as such yet so most running around is in traffic and still staying under 60.poldark wrote:Good to hear, I hope the mpg eases as it runs in as that looks a tad low, maybe you're doing shorter runs or just exploring the new found POWER?

Thats a very disappointing mpg figure ,even very aggressive 2 up riding on the srv only gets down to 47 mpg . I would like to think you would end up getting 55 mpg at least .

Guy's get real I have done 200 miles and only 2 fill ups. I know from the 400 that Sym engines take a while to loosen up, ask me after 6 months.

I had issues filling mine. Just push the fuel gun right in to the hole till it's flush and will fill perfect from then on. Honest. Any spare SYM t-shirts I'm in!
