Thoughts so far on the Burgman 650 L4

With only 300 miles on the clock (and still running in) it is too early to do a full review but here are a few thoughts:

Welcome surprises:

- Electric Screen as I sometimes like the wind on my face. (Have ordered the Givi larger screen for the extra 2 inches)
- Heated Seats for rider and passenger. I like to use my bikes all year round so this is welcome.
- electric fold in mirrors. Simply because I like gadgets! :D Haven't needed to use them when filtering and suspect I won't.
- Daytime Running Lights. With more cars using DRL's we need every help we can get to stand out.
- easy to paddle when parking - lot easier than my 400 was in 2002.
- Power! Even running in (keeping below 5k revs) and not using power mode I can feel how much more is to come.
- Comfort! Better ride for rider than passenger than any bike I have owned.
- ABS Brakes! Did an amazing emergency stop in complete confidence.
- Helmet lock well thought out.
- Under seat light very useful and already used.
- Manual Gear Changer. I thought I wouldn't use it but great for going up steep hills.
- 12v socket for my phone. Only other bike I owned with one is Kawasaki 1400 GTR.

Disappointments:

- Heated Grips would not even melt an Easter egg! My last ones were Oxford, ones before Daytona. These are Crap.
- White lining of Tyres. Mentioned this in another post and will do further research.
- minor disappointment that the engine is so quiet!

I am sure there are things I have left off - and I haven't reviewed the handling yet but will update after first service. Currently away in my cage and missing the Black Wing! :-(

Folding Mirrors? A Gimmick? No they're not I use them all the time. I just check behind as I go for the gap and I can get through. Its worth folding them for the look on drivers faces when I unfold them at the front of the queue.
My mileage is up to 850 and the bike is getting better.

Nice review :)

I agree, Suzuki (and Honda) OEM heated grips are crap :(
Don't know why they can't get them as good as other manufacturers.

Will talk to dealer at first service to see if they can do anything under warranty.

Check the grips to see where the main heat strip is? I had to rotate my L1 throttle grip so the heat strip was on the palm. It's a known factory assembly issue but thought it would have been solved on the new model.

Will do! I know the heated seats work as it burned my bollocks off when I tried it the other day!

The throttle grip heat cable position is a good indicator. If it enters via the bottom of the grip then the grip need rotating back over so the cable is nearer the top of the grip.
The grips are not handed differently, they are identical so hence the issue when they installed them, plus they are not 360° heat but have 2 heat strips only.

Looking at the throttle from the side, the cable is at 1 o'clock so that is near enough at the top. Will research it further. Thanks for the input.

That means it's correct, so they have modified the factory install.
