OK peeps, swallow that mouthful before reading on.....

Today I checked in the Forza for its 8000 mile service and asked if they had anything available for me to borrow for the day.
A Yamaha XV950 was available, I was grateful for the use of it but its not really my cup of English Breakfast.

So I gets on, clunks it into gear (remember them) ease out the clutch and throb off into town to find a place for breakfast.
Two bacon rolls and aforementioned beverage later, off down the South Deeside Road for a ride in the glorious sunshine.

Maybe it was the weather, maybe it was the scenery, maybe it was the empty road, maybe it was not being at work, I'm not really sure what it was but I was really enjoying it.
This is completely wrong I thought to myself, I should not be enjoying this, I don't like this kind of bike.

Well fact of the matter is that the XV950 does it for me.
If I had a lock-up and could keep it purely for nice rides out on sunny days I would definitely have one.
Nice bike Mr. Yamaha.

I can completely understand that. I have a Yamaha FJR1300 and use it exactly the same. Wouldn't like to use it every day for commuting and I much prefer my SH300i for that but for the odd sunny day and my once a year European tour it's just perfick!

It's a nice bike.I borrowed our demo for the weekend recently,which is not like me at all. I wish we had a 530 demo

It's a good bike for a sunny Sunday ride about.I wouldn't like it as an everyday bike.

Me too, then again I wouldn't want any bike as my everyday transport, the scooter format is far superior for that imo.

I've never ridden one.

I was slightly jealous of a bike on Friday in the Derbyshire countryside.
It was being ridden very well and patiently behind me while we were bunched up with some cars.
When there was a chance to pull around the last of the cars it was at the base of a steap hill. I cleared the last car at full throttle and pulled into the near side - he took the hint and flew past (I was still full throttle).

I thought, yeah, a few more horses would be fun now and again.
Don't know what I would do with all the stuff I had under the seat though.

Like you said GN2, most of the time a scoot is the right tool for the job

The xv 950 is a very competent motorcycle and is far better built and finished than the hd equivalents ,but imho still lacks the character in its motor to suit its style .
