A bloody huge FJR1300!!!

Yes, I went from a 400cc to a 1300cc just like that. Mad? Yes. Irrational? Yes. Loving it? Yes!

I've been maxi scootering for at least 8 years now and felt it's time for a change. As some of you might remember here, i was interested in deauvilles for some time, and almost px'ed one for the burgman when i saw this beast.

I was looking for anything with good reliability and shaft drive within a reasonable budget and until i came across the FJR, deauville seemed to fit the bill. It was the sensible choice but didn't make my heart pumping as this!

Image

It's a 2001 model with only 20600 miles under its belt, came with FSH, long MOT and TAX, two new tyres and a recent service. It's got all yamaha luggages and electric screen as standard.

It popped up on ebay 5 miles from my house on sale by a trader, went to see it after work thursday and the rest is history :)

Chopped in the burgman which I got a good deal for (£2500 px) and paid £1500 on top of it.

There is a bit more history about why I made up my mind to get rid of the burgman, but that'll be another topic another day. Let's just say i didn't like the fact that i was stranded twice in two years due to electrical issues from what essentially was a 2 year old bike. Remembering my old 10 year old tmax never being unreliable, i knew i had to get out of Suzuki ownership.

Regardless of the bike change, i'll always be a muppet as i've been in the past, so you lot won't get rid of me that easily

Is it regular clutch/gearbox one or nintendomatic?

How closely related to the old FJ1100/1200 is it?
Those things only lacked one thing to make them near perfect and that was shaft drive.

Well done halfabusa! Nice bike the FJR. You'll love it. Glad you are going to stick around...wouldn't be the same without you. Regards to the family...

Looks great. Bikes like that cost more than cars new so that age/mileage is perfect to snap them up.

The deauvile has a reputation for being massively dull, and I found the Burg400 I test rode sluggish below 70mph so I suspect the FJ was a revelation!
You can get good mpg out of them with taller gearing too.

Interested to see how you get on with the gears again.

I think you did the right thing, not getting the Deauville, they are massively dull, and a burg400 is sluggish below 70mph.
Enjoy the 1300.
PS. any takers on dull and sluggish bikes I own.

I owned a FJR1300 a few years ago
With 145 BHP it was a Rocket ship especially in third gear, that would take you from walking pace to illegal speeds very quickly :D
