Hello, I'm a newcomer and recommended to the site by Mr Blez! Im on my ninth Tmax and collectively covered around 230,000m, I tend to ride all year round in all weathers.. it's the first bike I ever owned which still amazes me every time I ride. I just wish Yamaha had stuck to the MK2 and stopped trying to re-invent the model for no reason.. I've ridden but not owned the Mk3 and the current 530.

My only current question is: Long-life tyres: Last fitted Michelin Power-Pure (supposed to be high mileage) and not so impressed with the handling .. I've had Dunlops.. aaaagh... pirhelli...Battleaxes.. good perf but high wear... the best were the simple Bridgestone Hoops on my Mk1 which did 10,000m rear and 15,000 front and wore evenly throughout. It seems you can't get a 160/60/15 (only 14"). Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Hello Graham and welcome ,with regards to the michelin power pures milage for me has been 6k tops and as for handling they have been a revelation compared to diablos and the like .I personally have pushed them very hard apparently on track days and they have been fine . The big area i found was you need to keep an eye on the tyre pressures or you can have a vague feeling and excelerated ware . IN all the bad weather the pures never lost traction once . I have been told however that the bridgestone ecopia is very good as is the metzeler feelfree and therer wintec version for winter .The michelin sport sc does last longer and offer good grip ,but i think its more a case of what suits you with trial and error .

Only personal experience was Mich Pilot Sport SC, which were big improvement on Bridgestone OEM on the Burger 650, you'd certainly expect better longevity over the Pilot Pure.

I use the excellent Dunlop Roadsmart on the Triumph (as many do) and guys running my previous bike (TDM900) also give very positive feedback, so not sure if their new ScootSmart offering would be worth a punt, looks well priced.

Thanks for the pointers.. I just got several small flints in the rear PowerPure which resulted in a puncture and scary weave at 75mph.. a dummy tank between the knees might have reduced the shock a bit! Will take a look at the tyre recomendations you made.

My previous set of Battlax OEMs lasted two+ years covering about 13000 miles on the rear and well over that on the front. Currently have a set of Battlax SC's and the handling is improved over the original Bridgestone Battlax. But then I do use the whole tyre.

Yes we have paid for the whole tyre so why not use it . I have heard rave reviews of the ecopia so i may give that a go next time around or a set of golden tyre radials .

it seems the ecopia have very little choice on sizes, i use the bridgestone car version of the ecopia the 15% less rolling resistence makes then quiet and you have better mpg my 2 ton beast gets 5mpg more on trips
