Honda Preston is closer to Bolton than Batley and Hunts in Manchester is also closer... Are you getting a grand deal from Padgetts?Sylar wrote:For anyone remoteley interested, Robinsons in Rochdale now have a Maxi-Sym 600 in thier showroom. You betcha!
He's getting tech that's been tried and tested for over 13 years - with a few tweaks made 5 years ago. Parts are readily available and if he wanted to 'blend in' (ie road rager/petrol station/bank heist) there is no Maxi Scoot more common. He knows how it feels - so no change or learning curve needed - and all his knick-knacks are transferable. How can you put a value on such familiarity?

Re: Sym 600 Again!
Hunts did not want my bike because of the mileage they said it would be impossible to sell. You're quite right Nonstarter, i'm getting something i know about, the technology may be old, but i've tried the Burgman 650 and the TMax, not for me. As for being the most common Scooter I rarely see another Silverwing, but plenty of Burgmans. I intend to ride another 40,000mls in the next four years, maybe more who knows.

Yep if a dealer sees a machine with more than 2 k a year on the clock they dont want to know unless they are shifting an ex demo or a slow mover integra`s as an example .

Re: Sym 600 Again!
As spaceprobe said I did have a couple of problems with my silverwing on delivery, although it is fair to say this was a one off. On the first ride home I noticed that the front suspension hit the stops over bumps in the road where my previous machine had been fine. At first i thought this was due to over inflation of the front tyre but the problem persisted, the suspension was checked over by the dealer on the first service and they reported that no defects were found, I have not had any problem with the suspension since.
Two days into ownership on parking the bike I noticed that in bright sunlight there were surface scratches in the metallic paintwork (I have the delta blue) as if someone had rub it over with a gritty cloth they appear to be in the lacquer and not to have penetrated to the paint coat. On the first service the dealer put it through their body shop for a full polish and it is better but in certain lights you can still see scratches, hoping these will polish out over time.

When I wanted a new Forza last year, Ecosse Honda were quite happy to take my three year old PCX despite it being dog rough cosmetically, had a broken crankcase centrestand mount and 18000 miles on the clock.Ferret wrote:Yep if a dealer sees a machine with more than 2 k a year on the clock they dont want to know unless they are shifting an ex demo or a slow mover integra`s as an example .
It sold on almost immediately and has recently been traded and resold at the other dealer in town.

Re: Sym 600 Again!
Well i collected my new Silverwing today, forty miles to pick it up and forty miles back with the new one, all on the M62. I got it from Padgetts in Bately, they were okay but, I would have liked some kind of extra. Only enough fuel in it to get to the nearest pump. A cheap crappy tax disc, they did offer a cup of tea but i said i didn't think i could afford it,just to make my point. They think I will be going back for the first service (only ninety nine pounds plus 20% V.A.T.), and maybe having it seviced by them, i don't think so.
