Heading to the airport for a weekend away the belt snapped on my Nexus 500, was told when I bought it that it as a brand new belt in it!

Not that I trust anyone and had already ordered one but hey hoo left high & dry on the motorway this morning at 5am and a quick £250 later to join the AA so I could at least get it and myself home

Do you happen to know if it was the slightly cheaper Athena belt or the OEM? My Athena obliterated its self also on the motorway... 90 mph overtaking two lorries in 1st and 2 lane and a car in the 3rd lane not even going national speed limit with the belt snapping is not fun.

Must have been a frightening experience. However, I would always have breakdown recovery. You may never ever need it, but it helps take all the stress out of a breakdown in the middle of nowhere.
