Hi I have a SYM citycom 300 and was thinking of fitting a Malossi Multivar 2000 kit to it,can anyone tell me if they have put one on a SYM 300 and how much difference it has made.I had one fitted to a 400 burgman back in 2001 and it made a hell of a change to the bike but will it do the same to a smaller engine.

as funky states... a 300cc scoot is high revving, yet your rollers are quite large anyways, 25x22.5 as your variator only uses 6 rollers, so you would benefit from slighty less roller weight, say 16 gms... same size as the nexus 500 took yet lower weight.. dr pulleys at 16gms are about £50 .. so how much is the Malossi Multivar 2000 shame they dont have a hit clutch, for your scoot as your engine is revvy and sending the power to the back wheel, yet the clutch is scrubbing off the forward speed with slip.. best looking at lower rpm clutch springs so you scoot fully engages clutch at lower rpm

I've not been tempted to install the Malossi Multivar 2000 kit, but I have installed 17G Dr Pulley Sliders. With a brand new genuine belt it took off like a scolded cat in comparison to the stock 18G rollers.
The trade off(?) is 7000rpm = 70mph, 8000rpm = 80mph & 9000rpm = 90mph - but only on the flat!
I remember reading this from Globs, who has the same engine (with a different ECU?) in his SYM GTS300i:

The rev limiter on my Citycom cuts in at 9000rpm. Is yours the same?

Dr Pulleys are definitely worth considering - if you haven't tried them already.

Wow,now I am in a pickle.Dont know what to do now,17g or 19g sliders, will a clutch spring help with the take off if I put the 19g sliders in,that way I might get the best of both worlds high revs at the take off and low cruising revs.Anonstarter,I dont think my rev limiter has ever cut in.I see Malossi springs are sold separately in two colours,white and yellow are these different strengths.By the way thanks for all the help guys it is certainly is a minefield once you start to tweek your scooter.

I'm not sure about the clutch spring. There are some cleverer muppets on here that might offer a better insight.
What I believe is the Dr Pulley choice boils down to this:
If you want to blast away with faster acceleration (and wonder what a rev limiter feels like @ 9000rpm - "90"mph) go for 17G!
If you want slightly better acceleration, lower rev's (~ 500rpm ), more cruising refinement and better mpg, go for 19G!

Anonstarter,How much quicker do you think your bike is now with the 17g sliders, and are you happy with it or do you think it revs just a bit to much.I do a lot of local up and down hills and my average trip is about 15miles but now and then do a motorway trip to Cardiff of about 80 miles.
